Motion- The 8-11-17 Ad Hoc minutes
and GTOANA contract regarding the misuse of treasury funds be discussed so the
GSR’s can decide to table, vote or declare an alternative solution and/or
policy be followed going forward regarding creation of ad hoc meetings
Intent- To allow the spirit of
group conscious to take place in the decision making process
Rationale – For our group purpose
there is but one ultimate authority- a loving god as he may express himself in
our group conscious, Our leaders are but trusted servants they do not govern.
Discussed to
the satisfaction of GSR and GSR alt
Motion #5- Trust the Process,
seconded by Progress not Perfection GSR
Motion- To redefine the way “Ad
Hoc” appears in GTO’s policy and procedure under section VI.B.2 Ad Hoc From:
“In
creating an ad hoc committee, the ASC should clearly specify what the
committee’s purpose will be, what authority and resources it will be given, and
how long it should take to complete the job. Then the area chair may appoint
the entire ad hoc committee or just a chairperson who will put the as hoc
committee together later. The point of accountability should be clearly defined
when selecting trusted servants to fulfill the ad hoc.”
To:
“To create an ad hoc committee the
ASC, which is made up by area officers, GSR’s, and GSR alternates, should
clearly specify what the committee’s purpose will be, what authority and
resources it will be given, and how long it should take to complete the job. If
the ad hoc is for regular area business an area officer shall chair said ad
hoc. If it is an ad hoc concerning a subcommittee the chair or vice chair of
said subcommittee shall chair said ad hoc. This creates a single point of
accountability. If an emergency ad hoc needs to be created the chair shall
notify the GSR’s and/or GSR alternates to create and ad hoc body
Intent – To follow the spiritual principles outlined in the 1st
tradition: “Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends on
NA unity.”, the 2nd tradition: “For our group purpose there is but
one ultimate authority- a loving God as He may express himself in our group
conscious. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.” And the 9th
tradition: “NA, as such, ought never be organized, but we may create service
boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.” The 2nd
concept:” The final responsibility and authority for NA services rests with the
NA groups.” The 3rd concept: ”The NA groups delegate to the service
structure the authority necessary to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to
it.” 5th concept:” For each responsibility assigned the service structure;
a single point of accountability should be clearly defined.” 7th
concept: “ All members of a service body bear substantial responsibility for
that body’s decisions and should be allowed to fully participate in its
decision making processes.” 8th concept: “Our service structure
depends on the integrity and effectiveness of our communications.” 9th
Concept: “All elements of our service structure have the responsibility to
carefully consider all viewpoints in their decision making processes.” And the
12th concept: “In keeping with the spiritual nature of Narcotics Anonymous,
our structure should always be one of service, never of government.”
Rationale: Transparency, accountability, communication, unity, and to
give the home group which ASC serves, a voice in every matter.

PR
Greetings from pr,
All is well in public relations
land. Flyer day was unintentionally scheduled for the same day as area, so it
has been rescheduled for the 24th at 11. We voted to get together after
to make a new contact list. We are requesting $34.90 of our budget to
restock the pr box. Needs are as follows: Am I an addict : 20; welcome to
narcotics anonymous: 20 ; staying clean on the outside: 17 ; an introduction to
na meetings: 18; white booklet: 19. We also voted to include our pr
display at our next activities function.
Grateful to be of service,
Josh A

Greetings from the GTO h and I subcommittee,
We would first like to express the need for h and I participation at the subcommittee level. Our experienced member’s participation has been waning lately and it's now time for panel leader positions to change. Secondly we would like to say thank you for the opportunity to serve but things can't go on with only a few of us showing up. Please bring nominations and join us at the subcommittee at 2:00 pm on every third Sunday.
Thank you very much

Subcommittee Report, September 2017
Greetings ASC!
In our September
meeting of the Activities Subcommittee, we again went over the August Newcomer
Picnic and discussed ways and ideas to improve the activity next year. Some of
those ideas is to make the event shorter, possibly combine the mini-workshops
into one workshop, and to have the event later in the day. All members believe
the event is important and beneficial to members new to NA, but the event just
needs to be “compressed” to make it more appealing.
No activities were
held in the month of September. The subcommittee is currently planning for our
next event, the GTO Annual Halloween Extravaganza.
As advised earlier,
the event is scheduled for Saturday, October 21 beginning at 6
p.m. The Extravaganza will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 520 11th Street
in Huntington.
Activities planned
for the event include an H&I workshop, an NA meeting hosted by the Out of
the Dark and Into the Light of the Rainbow homegroup, which is moving their
meeting to this location for this one night. This will be a speaker meeting
with Benjamin K. from Fairmont sharing his experience, strength and hope. The
subcommittee sought out both male and female speakers, and was narrowed down to
one male and one female. The subcommittee voted and unanimously selected Ben.
There will also be
the traditional chili cookoff (homegroups are being asked to donate items for
the cookoff, such as sour cream, cheese, crackers, bowls, spoons, and drinks,
to help keep the costs to GTO down). We'll also be having an auction of NA
items and a 50/50 raffle – both to help with the costs of the event. Finally,
we'll be having a costume contest and a dance, with Tom F. contracted to
provide his professional deejay services.
Funds to pay for
the event, including rent, supplies (not pledged by homegroups), and the DJ
will be requested at the October GTO Area meeting.
Grateful to be of
service

Literature supply
Greetings from Lit Supply.
We will be moving the time of our meetings to 2pm on the Sunday of
area, same location (Cabell County Public Library), and have submitted a motion
to amend policy to reflect this. We have donated the Newcomer Packets, which
we're compiled for the picnic, to the PR subcommittee. We will be
making a request for $500 to purchase literature. Literature Supply
Subcommittee will not be meeting on OCT 13 due to the member of the
committee having a prior commitment. We have no other announcements at
this time

Group Report September 2017
Hello
Friends!
Greetings from the Another Way Group of Narcotics Anonymous.
Things are still going well, and our meeting attendance has picked up some.
That doesn’t mean we don’t want to see more of you! Please come visit us: we
meet Monday at 372 Main Street, Ceredo, WV 25507 from 7-8:20pm. We’d like to
announce a six year celebration on September 18th. Cake will be
provided and it will be a regular meeting. Hope to see you all there! We
recently had a member join our home group, bringing the head count up to four
members. Unfortunately, we don’t have an area donation this month because we’ve
had to take care of our home group needs. We’ve restocked on some supplies, our
rent is paid through October, but we’re still needing to purchase some
literature and a few key tags. We’re grateful to be a part of the solution
today!
In
Loving Service,
-Another
Way Group
The Trust the Process from group of Narcotics Anonymous which meets in 901 Jefferson Street at 7:00 o'clock is alive, kicking and and a clear massage off NA is being carried. The doors are opened literature laid out and coffee made. We have a new home group member and attendance has picked up to an average of approximately 25 addicts.
Grateful to serve
GSR Chris G.
Hello From She Do Recover! We continue to meet on time and carry the message to an average of 10 addicts weekly. Rent is paid and we have literature on the table. We have no donation for area at this time, as our income is just enough to pay rent, buy literature, and coffee. We have no needs nor announcements at this time.
